The Holy Trinity Catholic School Board was established by the Pastor of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in accordance with Diocesan policy, to assist him and the Principal of Holy Trinity Catholic School in the governance of the education program. The board participates in the policy-making process by formulating, adapting, and recommending policy.
School Board Members – Biographical Information
Kathleen Lyon earned a B.A. in French and Spanish as well as a teaching certificate, grades K-12 from King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Upon moving to Maryland, she taught high school French and Spanish for 5 years, while pursuing a Master’s in Education in the field of school counseling. Upon completion of that program, she worked as a middle school counselor for 14 years. Following that, she was Supervisor of Pupil Services for St. Mary’s County Public Schools and served her last 11 years with the school system as a member of the Superintendent’s leadership team in the role of Executive Director of Student Services, responsible for Pupil Services, Special Education, student discipline and school safety. Upon her retirement in 2009, she and her husband relocated to Little River and joined Our Lady Star of the Sea parish. In Maryland, she served as a lector at Our Lady Star of the Sea parish in Solomon’s MD. Locally, she is a member of the Ladies’ Guild and the chairperson of the Education Committee of the School Board.
Lynne Remedios received her MBA from Adelphi University in New York and is also a retired CPA (NY).
Her business background includes being an auditor at a big five accounting firm, an accountant for multi-national firms, entrepreneur, and owning her own tax practice specializing in small businesses. In addition she has twenty years of experience in education as a Professor of Accounting. She believes in the importance of service to the community that includes having worked with animal rescue groups, served on various committees within her community and as a Caring Clown visiting hospitals, nursing homes and community events. Currently she is on the Finance Committee of the School Board.
Mrs. Luzzo has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology of Children and Youth and a Master of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education, both earned at Eastern Connecticut State University. She also has a graduate certification from Neumann University in their “Family Honor” program, a family-centered Catholic approach to chastity values. In 2015, she received her graduate level certification in Catholic School Leadership from Creighton University. She is certified in Early Childhood Education and has spent over 18 years in both administrative and teaching roles in private schools and early learning centers in both Connecticut and South Carolina.
Mrs. Luzzo believes in the unique gifts of each child and the value of a strong Catholic education. She hopes to instill in all students, teachers, and staff a deep, life-long love of learning and a close, personal relationship with God. Mrs. Luzzo has been with Holy Trinity Catholic School since its inception eight years ago and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the school and assist with its continued growth.
Paul Cioffi received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. He has worked in field engineering, design engineering, technology development and management for forty years in Northeast Ohio. Paul is a member the Property Committee at Tidewater Plantation in North Myrtle Beach where he currently resides. Paul is the Chairperson of the Facilities Committee of the School Board.
Craig Monnell is the Strategic Accounts Director for KDDI Global, a New Jersey based telecommunications company, servicing major communications corporations around the globe. He received his B.A. in Accounting at Flagler College in Saint Augustine, Florida. Craig and his family are native Floridians from the Tampa Bay area and moved to North Myrtle Beach in 2012. He and his family have been active parishioners of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church since moving to the area, and his son is enrolled at Holy Trinity Catholic School.
